Where can I go on a Scenic Float Trip?

  • Bitterroot River: Known for superb fly fishing, the Bitterroot flows through the heart of the valley. There are many access points along they way but the best place to start is at the confluence of the East and West Forks in Conner Montana.
  • Clark Fork River: Two sections of the Clark Fork River are great for scenic floats. From Milltown Dam to Kelly Island, the river makes its way casually through town. Just beyond the whitewater found in Alberton Gorge, the Tarkio Gorge offers a calm stretch of water great for fishing, swimming, and viewing wildlife.
  • Blackfoot River: Flowing into Missoula from the east, there are a few sections along the Blackfoot that are nice for a scenic rafting trip. Try Ninemile Prairie to Whitaker Bridge or Johnsrud to Bonner. Be prepared for busy waters as you get closer to town.

Where can I find a guide?

Guided scenic rafting and fishing trips are available on all three of these rivers. Check with the outfitters listed on this page for details.
