Trapper Creek Job Corps Center cordially invites the public to attend their Fall Open House and Banquet on Tuesday, October 20 at 6:00 p.m. The banquet will be honoring the 45th Anniversary of Job Corps.
In addition to dinner being served in the Gymnasium, several student-created displays about the offered trades, as well as arts and crafts items created by students during their recreational time will be on display. During the program a past Job Corps student will speak about the benefits she received from her involvement with Job Corps. The public will be treated to an interesting and informative program!
Trapper Creek Job Corps Center hopes that the public will join us for dinner at 6:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium or if you are interested in having a tour of the Center, we will be offering student led tours prior to dinner. The tours will be leaving from the Administration Building starting at 5:00 p.m., take about 30-45 minutes, and will continue until dinner is served.
Forty-five years ago, on August 20, 1964, Job Corps was established as an instrument in the War on Poverty, launched by President Lyndon B. Johnson. As part of a network of social programs later referred to as “the Great Society”, Job Corps helped to reduce poverty to historic lows and gave disadvantaged youth a foothold to the middle class.
Job Corps has evolved and adapted throughout the last nine Presidential administrations, always working to address income inequality by providing our students with the skills and knowledge to enter the workforce, the military, and higher education.
Just as Job Corps was born out of tough economic times, we again find Job Corps uniquely positioned to aid in the nation’s current economic recovery. Job Corps is adapting their recruitment and training strategies to guide students into emerging industry sectors. Job Corps continues to meet the needs of our students and the nation’s workforce.
Trapper Creek Job Corps has been rated as one of the top Job Corps Centers in the nation and we hope that the public will join us in celebrating this accomplishment as well as the 45th Anniversary of Job Corps itself.
