Bitterroot River Still Fishing Well

by BitterrootBob on August 5, 2010

August can be a difficult time of year for Bitterroot River fly fishermen. The unusually low water this spring didn’t forecast good times ahead for summer fly fishing on the Bitterroot River. Now that we are entering the “dog days” of August, the river is in better condition than most could have predicted.

Listen in as I speak with Bitterroot River outfitter Sean O’Brien, Osprey Outfitters Guide Service & Fly Shop owner. Sean gives up the hot spots along with the patterns that the big boys are hitting.

Please remember that water temperatures above 70 degrees Fahrenheit can be lethal to trout. Keep an eye on the water temperature. Restrict fishing to early and late in the day. And get fish to the net as quickly as possible this time of year.

As always, Good Fishing!!!
