The Darby Ranger District will be hosting two recreational events this month.
On Saturday, July 17, the Bitterroot Land Trust is hosting their second annual mountain bike tour. The route will have people biking up Skalkaho Road, turning on to Forest Service road 75, and then down Forest Service road 720 into the Sleeping Child drainage.
The roads will remain open to vehicles, but the public is urged to use caution and be mindful of the bicyclists. The event is expected to last all day.
The second annual Lake Como Triathlon will take place on Saturday, July 24 within the Lake Como Recreation Area. The swimming, running and biking event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and is expected to end around 2:00 p.m.
The event is open to the public but parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Each parked vehicle must display a day or season pass. Passes can be purchased on site at self-service stations, at Forest Service offices, or from different vendors in Hamilton and Darby.
Both events are authorized to occur on Forest Service Lands by way of a recreation event special use permit issued by the Bitterroot National Forest.
