The Bitterroot Elk Study got under way on Friday February 11. The capture crew found the going difficult in the steep terrain of the West Fork. A whole day of work resulted in only 7 successful captures.
Saturday the crew concentrated on the east side of the valley, starting on the CB Ranch and moving south to finish in the French Basin (Ross’ Hole). The final capture tally for Saturday was not available as of this writing.
We will keep you up to date as the study moves along. For more information and video of the study follow Elk in Peril Blog.
